2026 Local Roads Program - Curb & Gutter

The 2026 Local Roads Program includes construction on approximately 28 miles of local roadways in Meridian Township. This work is funded by the Local Roads Millage, which was passed by Meridian Township voters in August of 2019. The work ranges from preventative maintenance (to preserve pavement that is still in good condition) to full road reconstruction: 

  • Crack Fill – 20.5 miles
  • Reconstruction of Roads without Curb and Gutter – 3.74 miles
  • Reconstruction of Roads with Curb and Gutter – 3.74 miles

UPDATE (3/31/26)

Area 1 (Copperhill Drive and Woodhill Drive)

Replacement of the concrete curb and gutter and sidewalk ramp in Area 1 has begun and should be completed in 1-2 weeks.

Weather permitting, the Township’s contractors are scheduled to resurface Copperhill Dr. and Woodhill Dr. on the following schedule:

  • 4/15-4/17: Lower all manholes
  • 4/20-4/21: Milling (i.e., removal of existing asphalt)
  • 4/22-4/23: Grading and aggregate conditioning to prepare for paving
  • 4/23-4/24: Paving the first of two layers of asphalt
  • 4/24-4/27: Paving the second and final layer of asphalt

Area 2 (Stoneycroft Drive and Pebblestone Drive)

Curb and gutter spot repairs will likely begin the week of April 6 in this area and will take 1-2 weeks to complete.

Weather permitting, the Township’s contractors are scheduled to begin resurfacing Stoneycroft Drive and Pebblestone Drive the week of 4/27 or 5/4.

UPDATE (3/24/26)

On Thursday, March 26, concrete spot repair work will begin on Copperhill Drive, Woodhill Drive, Stoneycroft Drive, and Pebblebrook Drive. This work will take 1-2 weeks to complete.

Before paving work begins, damaged or settled sections of the curb and gutter (that are preventing proper road drainage) will be replaced. The Township will not add additional curb and gutter for replacement, and the Township does not replace curb and gutter for aesthetic purposes.

If the curb and gutter across your driveway is removed, there will be a period when you have to drive over your driveway without the curb and gutter. Once the concrete is scheduled for pouring, Lopez Concrete Construction, LLC will communicate with property owners to ensure their vehicles are moved prior to pouring. The concrete will then take 5-7 days to cure. If concrete is poured across your driveway frontage, you will need to park in the street during this time. 

Additionally, any sidewalks crossing the listed streets on the map above will be upgraded to meet current ADA requirements, as necessary. This generally includes lowering existing sidewalk ramps to reduce ramp slopes, realigning existing ramps to improve directional guidance at the crossing, or adding new ramps to provide an accessible crossing.

Pink paint will be used to mark concrete (curb/sidewalk) for replacement in advance of the concrete contractor mobilizing to each area.

If you have sprinklers, an invisible fence, lighting, landscaping, or any other personal property within approximately 10 feet of any concrete that is marked for replacement, it is recommended that you move these items away from the indicated work so that they are not damaged by the project. Although every effort will be made to avoid damage to personal property items adjacent to the concrete, such as sprinklers, the contractor will not replace or relocate these items except to set them back in, or as close as possible to, their original locations. 

Any items located between the curb and sidewalk are in the public road right-of-way (ROW), not on private property. For areas without sidewalks, the ROW typically extends 33 feet from the road centerline. Placement of items, such as those listed above, in the ROW is subject to permitting and approval by the Ingham County Road Department (ICRD). Damage to any items placed in the ROW without proper permits from the ICRD will not be reimbursed or replaced by Meridian Township.

UPDATE (3/4/26)

Work on the local roads with curb-and-gutter scheduled for resurfacing in 2026 will begin in March 2026 with curb-and-gutter spot repairs (roads shown in green on the map below). Sidewalk and pathway ramps will also be brought into compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The Township’s concrete contractor is Lopez Concrete Construction, LLC.
